The Borough of Saddle River is organized under the Borough form of Government, the Governing Body is made up of the Mayor and six Council members, none of whom are compensated for their services. The Mayor is elected by the voters to a four year term. The Mayor serves as Chief Executive Officer, he is an Ex-officio member of all Municipal Committees and is the approving authority in the Borough of Saddle River. Mayoral appointments to the various boards and committees in the Borough are subject to confirmation by the Borough Council.
The Borough Council is elected by the voters to three year terms which are staggered to allow for an election of two Council Members each year. The members of the Council serve on various operating committees and function in a liaison capacity to provide information and direction to the entire Governing Body.
